Art Therapy was the soft-launch of One Eighty, and an opportunity for the community to come together to support young local talent and begin a conversation about mental health.
An art exhibition featuring around 15 young local artists drew in a crowd of a few hundred people to the Avalon Beach Surf Life Saving Club over the afternoon and night. We were also treated to some music from a few young local bands, nibbles & drinks (!!!) and a discussion panel, featuring 4 local mental health professionals, on the state of youth mental health in the local area later on in the night.
A range of local businesses came on board to either donate to our raffle prizes, or to provide food, equipment or other support to the success of the night. These include: Coastal Watch, Hugo's Manly, Mac & Me Newport, Hemingway's Manly, Pizza Riccardo, Rust Avalon, Zubi, Classic Coffee, Havanas Manly, Rukus, Jonah's Whale Beach, Cranium Hair, Zinga Wines, Wicks, Surfing World, Ozi Skate, Avalon Uncovered, Canon Australia, Young & Rashleigh, United Cinemas, Nada Herman-Witkamp Art, Christine Sadler Jewellery.
Due to the overwhelming success of this event, we're likely to hold something similar in 2018. If you're a local business, artist, or musician, and you'd like to be involved, please let us know here!
