tREATMENT CENTRES

FAQ’S

  • All treatment centers in Australia require varying degrees of voluntary admission, meaning that nobody attends these programs unless they want to heal.

Most residential treatment services are 3-5 weeks, some being 60 days.

The purpose of the residential treatment is to kickstart recovery and cover ground that might take years in 1:1 therapy.

Treatments are for people who simply need help getting past the first few weeks of entering sobriety.

Treatment centers are not solely for the purpose of supporting addiction. They support all degrees of mental ill health ranging from divorce and separation, depression and anxiety all the way through to addictions, trauma and eating disorders.

It can be an incredibly healing experience where people are united, come together for the purpose of getting as much out of life as they deserve, but their mental health has held them back from. Recovery becomes a gift.

  • In order to access this form of treatment you will need private health cover, usually gold psychiatric. The cost of the gold psychiatric cover is about $175 per month depending on the health fund (HF) and the health fund that the center accepts.

You will need this level of cover for a minimum of 2 months before waiving the waiting period. Then you will be able to access inpatient programs at the cost of your excess (ranges from $0-$750 HF dependant). The intake team at a private hospital can talk you through this.

This excess is paid once per calendar or financial year, again HF dependent. What this means is that once your excess has been paid and your HF remains active, you are able to receive treatment from a center that without private health cover would cost on average $30,000 for 3 weeks.

The excess and cost of running the HF covers the entire duration, provided you have the right level of cover. This is easy to organise with the treatment center of your choice. You can access inpatient treatment more than once, at no cost, provided your HF remains active. Health Funds run either on calendar or financial year.

  • Most treatment centers will adopt to varying degrees a 12-step philosophy or SMART approach to recovery.

This is because there are measurables in individual success when working with a program alongside personal 1:1 therapy.

Treatment centers usually incorporate group therapy as a way of healing.

Healing happens in relationships, when we can see and express parts of ourselves that are hurt, kept hidden or lonely.

This is the cornerstone of treatment and most programs will act on the belief that connection is the antidote to suffering (addictions, trauma etc).
